How do I dispose of White Goods, Appliances, Metals, Cathode Ray Tubes, CRTS, and Electronics?
Answer

White Goods, Appliances, Metal items, and general Electronics may be dropped-off at Rumford Resource Recovery Center for no charge. Please click this link for directions, hours, and acceptable materials:  Recycling Depot


There is a $25.00 charge for Television and Monitor drop-off; $18.00 each additional. Please fill out application and make payment at Customer Service in the lobby of Newton City Hall.

How to request a collection

  1. Review list of accepted materials.
  2. Schedule a collection with Newton's Customer Service at Newton City Hall. Payments must be received by end of business on Friday before a request can be scheduled. Collections will be made on Wednesdays except for holidays, and inclement weather.  
  3. Payments may be made by check, cash, debit, or credit card at Newton City Hall. The hours for Customer Service are: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., except Tuesdays, when hours are 8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.  Or, a check may be sent by Friday for the following Wednesday collection.  Please write item (s) in the memo line, and send a check for payment, made out to Newton City Hall, to Customer Service, 1000 Commonwealth Ave., Newton, MA  02459
  4. Please contact Newton City Hall Customer Service at 617-796-1000, or dial 311 from a land line in Newton, MA, to schedule, or if you have additional questions. 
    • Please note that once a request has been scheduled and paid for, there will be no refunds given.
    There is a charge of $25.00* per stop, which includes 1 TV or computer monitor.  The collections will occur on Wednesdays, unless otherwise noted, and requests must be made by end of business day on Friday for the Wednesday collection. Once scheduled, please place items out to the curb by Wednesday at 7:00 am. or as early as Tuesday after 4:00 pm. to ensure collection.

    Bulky trash (furniture, mattresses, rug, etc.) are a separate pick up, please click here for a Bulky Waste collection.

*For additional TVs or monitors, there is a $18.00 charge per item.
